Dando início à temporada de premiações de 2021, foi divulgada a lista de indicados ao Globo de Ouro de 2021. Seguindo os padrões das premiações anteriores, a Netflix mais uma vez lidera a lista de indicados tanto na categoria de filmes, com 22 indicações quanto na categoria de televisão com mais 20 indicações.
Os filmes que somaram maior número de indicações foram Mank e Os 7 de Chicago, com 6 e 5 indicações respectivamente, incluindo Melhor Filme.
Já na categoria de TV, os destaques foram The Crown, com 6 indicações incluindo Melhor Série de Drama, e Schitt’s Creek, a série de comédia que foi a grande vencedora do Emmy Awards de 2020, com 5 indicações, entre elas a de Melhor Série de Comédia.
